World Trade Week is an annual national celebration recognizing the importance of international trade to the U.S. economy. NAITA World Trade Week draws international business executives and community leaders from across North Alabama and the Tennessee Valley to celebrate international business success and to highlight the impact of trade to our local, regional and national economies.

NAITA promotes economic growth through Trade Education, Advocacy and Connections. As a business-driven organization, NAITA has been committed to increasing knowledge, interest, and activity in international trade for 39 years. Alabama Secretary of Commerce Greg Canfield will kick off the NAITA World Trade Week on May 2nd with a Briefing at the Alabama Robotics Technology Park. NAITA and the Export Alabama Alliance will initiate the week with a very special program on the Impact of International Trade on North Alabama and highlight the resources available to help business expand in the global marketplace. Representatives from NAITA and the Export Alabama Alliance will be in attendance to introduce the resources available to help your company expand its markets internationally.  NAITA is pleased to partner with the Alabama Department of Commerce, Export Alabama Alliance, North Alabama Industrial Development Association (NAIDA), Limestone County Economic Development Association (LCEDA), and the Morgan County Economic Development Association (MCEDA), and we welcome companies from across North Alabama and the surrounding region to the event. An optional tour of RTP will be available following the program.

Tour of SES Huntsville Operations (U.S. Citizens Only)

Science and Engineering Services, LLC (SES) is a unique small business that has earned an impressive reputation and track record for success among their numerous DHS, DOS, Department of Defense (DoD), and commercial customers. Tour of Port of Huntsville International Intermodal Center & DSV

The International Intermodal Center, located in the Port of Huntsville Global Logistics Park, provides a single hub location specializing in receiving, transferring, storing, and distributing international and domestic cargo via air, rail, and highway. Weekly international nonstop service is available to Europe; Hong Kong; Shanghai; and Sao Paulo, Brazil through DSV, a Danish transport and logistics company offering transport services globally.

Participants will meet at DSV, tour DSV warehouse and coolers, International Intermodal Center, and a cargo plane.

Tour of Aviagen Vet Lab in Elkmont, Alabama

Aviagen Veterinary Laboratory is a diagnostic and research facility in Elkmont, Alabama, designed to meet world demand for optimal poultry health, welfare, and biosecurity.

Attendees will be able to:

  • See a sample collection and testing options, including swabs for AI, Mycoplasma testing, sponges, etc.
  • During the facility tour, they will be able to see the different departments and technologies, including the new automation platform for salmonella detection.
  • The presentation will cover the latest technologies/procedures used for testing.

Our keynote speaker is Matthew Axelrod, Assistant Secretary for Export Enforcement, U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry & Security, Washington, DC.  Mr. Axelrod’s message will be very timely, addressing the current world situation and the questions and concerns that many companies have regarding export regulations, sanctions, and how to maintain compliance to support global economic growth.
