• Do I need an export license?

  This is a common question; however, the answer varies depending on your product/service, end-user, destination of the export, and other factors.  If you intend to export a military product, you will need to check the regulations of the U.S. State Department (ITAR – International Traffic in Arms Regulations).  If your product was not designed for the military, you should check the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) of the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry & Security (BIS). Other categories of exports regulated by different government agencies include firearms, drugs, and agricultural items.

  Exporters are required to check several lists of persons and companies who are legally prohibited from doing business with U.S. parties. Click here for the new Consolidated Screening List on export.gov.
